Scheduling Software
The leader in

Scheduling Software

ResSched™ Corporate Edition licensees can now access ResSched scheduling software through the Web. From anywhere in the world your users can view or make bookings, using an interface is almost exactly the same as running ResSched locally. They get the same ResSched Scan and Browse windows and they can print the same graphic and text calendars and schedules at their local printer.

The ResSched Web module uses its own thin client program running on the end users workstation to connect to your server. Together they replicate the experience of running ResSched locally under Windows® . They even get a fully functional Windows help system rather than the awkward HTML Help so prevalent now. Because the server only refreshes the Windows elements that need to be refreshed when they need it, ResSched Web is often faster than browser based schedulers that must generate a complete page each time. Sometimes it is even faster than running ResSched on a LAN. But you don't have to choose between running ResSched locally or through the Web module; they can run at the same time.

ResSched Web module is not an ASP. It runs on your server or is hosted by an ISP of your choice. You always have control of your data and the ResSched Web module license is perpetual.

The ResSched Web thin client requires Windows 95 or higher.Your server requirements will vary with the number of concurrent users and the nature of your server hardware and installation.
The ResSched Web module ships with both:

  • a standalone executable Application Broker that can service up to 10 concurrent user sessions and will work on as little as a Windows 98 workstation (but NT/2000/XP is recommended);

  • and an ISAPI version of the Application Broker that runs under Microsoft IIS that can serve up to 50 concurrent user sessions. An ISAPI Application Broker that serves unlimited concurrent users is available as a separate order.

A static connection to the Internet or your intranet is required.

To use the ResSched Web Module, your organization must be licensed for the ResSched Corporate Edition. The number of update access and view only users that can access ResSched either through the Web or locally is set by that license (Note: this is completely separate from the number of concurrent users that can be technically supported by the Application Broker as described above).

The cost to add the ResSched Web module to your Corporate Edition license is $590. The ResSched Web module is perpetual and updates are free for one year. After one year, if you wish to have the updates, the cost is only 20% of your original license fee and includes another year of free updates.

Download and run the thin client setup file by clicking here. When you run it, you will be connected to a remote server running ResSched with our sample data file. Log in using GUEST as the username and VISITOR as the password. You be able to view and print schedules and bookings as if you were running ResSched on your workstation. In case your wondering, ResSched is running on a shared server at a Conneticut based ISP, not on its own dedicated server.

There are a few things to know when using the Web client. Because the window is actually constructed and modified at the server, there can be a slight delay any time you make a choice that requires the window or any of its components to be refreshed. The amount of delay is determined by the amount of processing your request takes, the server resources available, general traffic on the Internet and the speed of your connection. During that delay user input is not processed. You can tell exactly what state the ResSched web client is in by looking at the indicator 'globe' in the top right corner of the active window:

Clear - Ready to accept user input
Hourglass showing - server is processing the window, no user input accepted

When using a multiple select list window, the selection indicator is a small x beside the item rather than the item being highlighted. ResSched functions that use other software installed on your workstation such as WORD reports and E-mail are not available from the Web client at this time and are disable in the windows display. Sometimes scrolling through long lists can be better done by using the VCR buttons at the bottom of the list than with the scroll bar.
